Envisioned by our own Jessica Arinella, What You Can Do was essentially her response to feeling confused, daunted and concerned about the number of vital world issues. Initially intended for television, On the Leesh has decided to produce this series for the web. This will allow for an innovative and interactive experience as viewers both watch and then participate in the call to action. Teaming up with her is one of OTL's favorite people, Mary Micari. They'll interview experts, everyday people as well as volunteers to first get a full view of an issue and second, to figure out the best ways to combat that issue.This series has begun production on its first episode! Our first installment in the series will be about the important issue of Arts in Education. Joining us as experts in this cause is the nonprofit organization, Young Audiences New York, or YANY (www.yany.org). Jess and Mary interviewed them recently to discuss what YANY does and why Arts in Education is so vital for students. Next up are 'man on the street' interviews in Central Park!

Summary
What You Can Do is a documentary web series that gives viewers the power to take small steps to solve big problems. Each episode illuminates a pressing social issue and shows what viewers can do if they have one minute, one hour, one week or one year to give.Turning on the evening news has become a daunting experience. The ice caps are melting, animals are on the verge of extinction, a genocide is underway, a tornado, a hurricane, an earthquake has killed record numbers of people. Issues that once seemed remote now feel close at hand, and, as we’ve learned from the popularity of films like An Inconvenient Truth and When the Levees Broke, Americans are interested and want to help…but how? They have heard a call to action, but where and how do they begin? What You Can Do fills that gap.
